Recently I was reading an article about second hand smoke and not only pets developed allergies, they can also get cancer. Second hand smoke also contributes to coronary heart diseases and other illness.

Smoke particles get in their fur and then when they are grooming themselves the particles are ingested. Tobacco then reaches their internal organs and can do a lot of damage to them. Yes, all these are consequences of second hand smoke. It’s no coincidence Fred was always coughing and wheezing whenever I smoked.

I’ll be honest, I feel guilty that my loyal Fred had to endure all that second hand smoke; he died from heart disease.

If I had known e-cigarettes back then and if I knew what I know now about smoking, things would have been different. Perhaps Fred could have a better life, less allergies and he may have been still around. And I won’t even start in third hand smoke.

I know is hard to quit smoking. If you can’t or is very hard for you, why not give e-cigarettes a try. There’s not second hand smoke in this smokeless product.

Now, not all of us can afford GEA, and that raised a very interesting question, would commercial airlines follow this trend? Can be possible that e-cigarettes are indeed a viable smokeless alternative for in flight smoking? USA Today asked the spokesperson for Southwest and American, but currently there still no e-cigarettes in flights.

E-cigarettes can help you avoid been taken out of the flight because you were caught smoking in the airplane, like it happened recently to a man flying from JFK International Airport.

I think with GEA and Ryanair already offering their customers e-cigarettes, other companies will allow this example. In the future I expect to find e-cigarettes in all flights. Time changes and it’s time for smoking and smokers to change to a smokeless alternative.

Since 2009 the government are putting a lot of efforts to help people quit smoking and to prevent smoking among underage kids. However, there aren’t any big changes about the smoking habits, unless you count the use of e-cigarettes.

There are about 46 million Americans who smoke. Our government wants them to join the anti-smoking campaign, which in return will lover the money spend on smokers to keep them healthy. The FDA doesn’t know for sure if these scary tactic is going to be effective or not, but they are coming to the cigarette pack near you.

Sometimes I only “drain” the atomizers. I take the atomizers out of my e-cigs, I have about six of them right now, and stuff a piece of clothe in them. I usually let it stay like that overnight and always some juice comes out. Then, I take out the now dirty clothes and take a clean one to give it a quick swap and then blow. This is the quick way to clean my atomizers.

When I want to get them very clean, I washed them with alcohol and then rinse with warm water. I just soaked the whole atomizers for about ten minutes and then I used my wife blow-dryer to make sure no moisture is left in there.

After a while using your atomizers, the liquid nicotine that’s left inside can become a bit sticky and either damage your atomizers or makes it harder to vape.

Tobacco shops and spice

No matter how much efforts the FDA have put in trying to stop electronic cigarettes, there is always a new product in the market that needs more their attention. In Jacksonville, North Carolina, there has been a proliferation on sales at tobacco shops, despite the smoking ban. However, there aren’t any new smokers; there are more people using spice. And what exactly is spice…synthetic cannabis.

Synthetic cannabis, or spice, is an herbal and chemical product made to mimic the effects of marihuana. It makes users experience a “high” feeling, an effect similar to that of marihuana. Since this is not an FDA regulated substance and leaves no traces on drugs test, it became very popular among the young in the military.

Spice has been banned by the Marine Corps. Marines cannot buy, use or posses spice. However, no word from the FDA just yet; they are busy persecuting electronic cigarettes, which they still need to prove if they are or not bad for human use. Instead, the FDA needs to start looking into spice, which is a drug we all know works like marihuana.

At least someone is concerned enough to do something about it. N.C. Rep. George Cleveland is going to introduce a new bill during the house next season in February. Perhaps spice sells will stop.

These kinds of situations are giving all e-cig makers a bad reputation. We are in a position right now where we cannot have anything tarnishing the efforts to take electronic cigarettes approved by the FDA and the global market.

There are so many people working on passing all the restrictions the FDA had try on these smokeless devices to have someone like these people come and undo all the hard work.

These people need to get fined.

Dr. Whitt stated in her letter that electronic cigarettes

• Are not toxic
• Are not carcinogenic
• Effect of electronic cigarettes in human health
• Electronic cigarettes vapor versus tobacco smoke
• Exposing former smokers to smoke

Basically, Dr. Whitt is putting all the cards on the table with specific scientific evidence and information gathered by CASAA regardless research and tests done on electronic cigarettes and their components.

Smoke-free products like electronic cigarettes are good alternatives for smokers and there isn’t any real evidence that electronic cigarettes are damaging to the health of the person who uses them as bystanders.

I think the FDA has found a great opponent in Dr. Whitt.

As many others before him, Frundt wants to ensure that this products are not going to be sold to minors. He’s worry about the new smokeless tobacco products, like orbs, resembling candy can attract the young crowed. He said: “If the products are sold here we want to be sure they are located behind the counter, to reduce youth access.”

The new tobacco law entered in effect on August1, 2010. For first time offenders selling smokeless tobacco products to minors the fine is $75, the second violation costs $200 if it occurs between 24 months at the same place. The fine for a person selling tobacco products to underage kids is only $50.

Now, I agree in many points with Mr. Frundt, however I’m wondering why the fine for selling tobacco products to than 18 yrs. old and under crowed is only 50 bucks. But, it’s $75 to $200 for smokeless tobacco products. It doesn’t seem right.

Once again I feel that e-cigs are been targeted without real reason. Ok, you don’t want kids to have them absolutely right. But, let’s make fines and regulation for both tobacco products and smokeless tobacco products the same. That’s fare.
